Ghanaian Man Gets Life Sentence For Murdering His Wife

A man who murdered his wife in a fit of rage and jealousy at their Enfield home has been jailed for life, with a minimum term of 17 years.

Minta Adiddo has been jailed for life

Minta Adiddo, 38-year-old Ghanaian, of Morris Court, Rigby Place, Enfield was found guilty at the Old Bailey on 13th December 2013, of fatally stabbing Akua Agyeman in November 2012. She later died from horrific injuries on 2nd January 2013.

He was sentenced at the Old Bailey on 16th December 2013.

At previous court hearings Adiddo had admitted to manslaughter but denied murdering her.

His conviction followed a successful investigation by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.

The court heard that in October 2012 Adiddo harboured a belief that his wife was conducting an illicit affair with a neighbour. His belief, which was denied by the neighbour, led to Adiddo attacking Mrs Agyeman in their bedroom on 5th November 2012. He initially stabbed her with a large kitchen knife.

Mrs Agyeman fled the bedroom and attempted to escape through their living room window. Addido pursued her and witnesses described how they saw him chasing the 22-year-old across a road and continue to stab her as she lay collapsed on the ground.

As witnesses called emergency services one passer-by, who had been tending to Mrs Agyeman, told the court how he then realised a car was driving straight at them. He managed to avoid the vehicle but watched as Adiddo drove over his wife before fleeing the scene.

The jury were told about how following the attack, in one of the first phone calls Adiddo made, to a relative, he admitted stabbing his wife and that he was going to kill himself before arrest.

Shortly before 10:00hrs on 6th November 2012 Adiddo was arrested after officers spotted him in the vehicle still wearing his blood-stained shirt.

Shocking: ‘Degrading’ Treatment Of Lampedusa Immigrants Caught On Video

The European Commission has threatened Italy with legal action for possible breaches of the EU’s rules on granting asylum, over its treatment of migrants arriving from Africa on the island of Lampedusa.

Video shot on a cell phone and shown on Italian State television station RAI2 Tuesday, shows migrants at a camp on the island of Lampedusa being forced to strip naked, in mixed company, and then being hosed down by staff.

Home Affairs Minister Angelino Alfano said they were considering entrusting the centre to the International Red Cross.

European Commission’s home affairs chief, Cecilia Malmstrom said: “The images we have seen from the detention centre in Lampedusa are appalling and unacceptable. We will contact the Italian authorities to ask more information on these events and we ask them to shed full light over what happened.

“We have already started investigations on the deplorable conditions in many Italian detention centres, including Lampedusa, and we will not hesitate to launch an infringement procedure to make sure EU standards and obligations are fully respected.”

Ms. Malmstrom warned that the European Commission’s “assistance and support to the Italian authorities in managing migratory flows can only be continued if the country guarantees humane and dignified reception conditions to migrants, asylum seekers and refugees.”
Lampedusa
Giusi Nicolini, the Mayor of Lampedusa said the images reminded one of a concentration camp. She added that they showed lack of respect for human dignity. The whole country should be ashamed of what happened at the detention centre in Lampedusa, Ms. Nicolini said.

Laura Boldrini, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies said the way migrants were treated was “unacceptable” and “unworthy of a civilised country”.

She added that the images “tarnished the country’s honour.”

Valerio Cataldi, the journalist who prepared the report, said it showed the “shameful medical treatment” in Lampedusa.

Italian authorities have already launched an inquiry into the treatment of migrants at the detention centre in Lampedusa.

The 2015 election seems to be the next talked about issue in Nigeria. Many wonder if President Goodluck Jonathan will win for the 2nd Term!
Dickson Iroegbu believed and campaigned for Jonathan on the first election. Even though at some point he expressed his disappointment in Jonathan’s decision on Oil-subsidy, he still did not lose his hope on him.
Dickson is appointed the youth leader for the Entertainment and tourism sector.
On his excerpts interview with Diamond celebrities, The hard-working Filmmaker told  Delia Innoma why he believes President Jonathan is the best candidate for 2015 election.
DC: Election is drawing near, sir, who do you think should be the next president?
Dickson Iroegbu: GEJ all the way.
DC: Why him?
Dickson Iroegbu: He is a man of history. There are moments we should stand for the right thing, no matter what it takes.
  DC: So you believe he is the best in Nigeria so far?
  Dickson Iroegbu: At the moment there is none better. GEJ is a man on a mission; nothing can stop a man on a mission with a vision.
DC: Has Nigeria witnessed any positive changes till now?
Dickson Iroegbu: We have witnessed dramatic turnaround in many sectors…POWER, AGRIC, TRANSPORT, ROADS, RAIL, YOUTH EMPOWERMENT, WOMEN EMPOWERMENT, CITIZENSHIP etc.
DC: So you believe there’s hope for a better Nigeria?
Dickson Iroegbu: There has never been hope for this country like now. We have never had it this good.
DC:  Please could you elaborate more on what you mean by Nigerians never had it this good?
Dickson Iroegbu: The Federal Government has said the ongoing reforms in the transport and other sectors of the economy are yielding positive results, especially in the rail sector where over one million liters of fuel are being transported on a daily basis just as 200 communities have been connected by rail.
 DC: You are the newly appointed youth leader, what’s your vision for the youth?
Dickson Iroegbu: My vision is simply to birth PATRIOTIC citizenship among Nigerians through CREATIVE ENTERTAINMENT and TOURISM.

Beyonce Buys Own Album, Hands Out $37,500 At Walmart (photos)

Beyonce visited a Walmart in Tewksbury, Mass., outside of Boston, Friday Night, 20th December, to purchase a copy of “Beyonce,” which is now in stores in its physical release after a week as a digital-only item.

In addition to buying her own album, Beyoncé and her camp gave out 750 Walmart gift cards, each at $50 a clip. In total, she handed out $37,500 worth of gift card, a Walmart spokesperson confirmed.

The beautify singer, After selling 617,000 copies in its first few days on sale to top the Billboard 200, the album is currently projected to sell more than 260,000 in its second week to retain the No. 1 spot.

The album “Beyonce” is now available on the retailer in an MP3 format, but not via CD.

So many fans thought they were dreaming as Nigerian most popular Rapper MI Abaga and Kelly Handsome Storm stage and performed Kelly Handsome’s wave-making single “Maga Don Pay” , early this morning, Sunday (Dec 22nd).

So many fans took to twitter to express their shock. Some thought the two singers were still beefing, while some said it was unbelievable to see the two killing it on stage, but in all they were positively surprised.

Kelly Handsome, MI, Don Jazzy, and others make up two months ago.

According to Radar Online, Justin Bieber did not invite his paternal grandparents to his Believe movie Premiere on Wednesday.
When asked by a representative from the website if he was invited to the Los Angeles event, Justin’s grandfather replied, “I really don’t want to talk about it.”
It was believed that Justin’s grandfather George Bieber did not appear at the event, as he has publicly criticized Justin’s behavior in the past.
George Bieber told the New York Daily News in April that Justin rarely communicates with him or gives him and his wife Kathy Bieber any money.
“It’s like we now live on different planets,” he revealed in April. “He never calls us, and now I sometimes think he doesn’t care. It does make me sad, as right now our lives are pretty desperate. I can’t work due to illness, so there is barely any money coming into the house. For them, nothing seems to be too much trouble, and he buys them new houses, cars, luxury holidays, anything they want — but for us, nothing.”
Justin’s new movie Believe will hit theaters on Christmas day.

image Diamond Celebrities spotted Donald Duke and wife today (27 Dec) at the carnival. Both parties – Don and Imoke were said to have sharp misunderstanding when imoke boys were  said to have blocked Don from biking with his power bike team.The reason was that they were Biking in an unscheduled  day as biking was meant for today before the adult carnival.

Source said Don has insisted, which did not augur well with Imoke as his Boys stood their ground against Don after been stopped, Don was said to have swore with his Boys to boycott todays biking competition.  the Biking competition eventually did not hold. hence the commencement of the actual  carnival, which is currently going on.

CARNIVAL CALABAR SHOWDOWN: MASTER BLASTA CLINCH OVERALL BEST (photos)

The showdown of carnival bands in the Carnival Calabar has ended in Calabar with Master Blasta clinching the overall best of band performance in the senior category.

 

In the competition of the carnival bands at the just concluded Africa’s biggest street party, in Calabar, Master Blasta band clinched the most coveted best performing band in the senior category followed by Passion 4, while Seagull took the 3rd position.

 

In the competition of junior bands Seagull clinched the overall best with Passion 4 winning the second position followed by Bayside band.

 

In both the senior and junior categories of the best king and queens of the band Seagull swept a whooping best of all.

 

For other aspects that the bands competed for Seagull also clinched the best in costumes interpretation and the best decorated float in the senior category while best in originality, the reflection of the carnival spirit and in interpreting this year’s theme ‘aren’t not stopping us’ went to Master Blasta band.

 

In the junior competing bands category best interpretation of theme went to Passion 4; while Seagull hooked the best reflection of carnival spirit and originality. As for interpretation of the theme Passion 4 and Seagull landed in a tie.

 

 

The carnival, which began from the millennium park through a 12 kilometer non-stop dance trek and ended at the UJ Eseune stadium lasting from 2pm of Friday to 2am of Saturday, had five bands competing including Bayside, Passion 4, Master Blasta, Freedom and Seagull band.
