Exclusive: Nollywood Actress Collette Orji talks about her NGO (Coco Medicare Foundation launch pictures)

Coco medicare foundation was launched  on the 10th of August. In case you missed it read here…
The event was an amazing one,  started with an opening prayer from one of the mothers, the women marched briefly for about five minutes along the streets( most of them got pains in the legs, knees, arthritis), but laughed back to the event with songs as water became the most needed supplement at the time.
According to Collette Orji (the founder and the CEO) of Coco medicare, the highlight of the event was picture time with everyone on the red carpet “we added that to the event to add some touch to our mothers.  This was indeed one moment I cherished during the days activity.” Coco emphasized with a big smile on her face.

Next was telling them about the NGO . What coco Medicare foundation is all about, how it originated, what our objectives are and why it is important we all get informed. Health is wealth…but information is life.
Doctors came on next and talked to everyone. They were advised on why it is important to do what it takes to avoid surgery and eat right. The main topic of the day was breast cancer, arthritis and eating right. Anything worth avoiding going under the knife or serious health disorders is an important discussion to today’s society.
Every one that was present was handed a clinical thermometer and they had a one on one interaction teaching them how it is used. It was indeed a blessing…everything from weather to the team seemed perfect . The event held on an open compound with canopies.

Since it was officially Collette’s birthday, they had the cutting of the cake, the refreshments and food was present and served as they left with some to take home( they knew that and made provisions for that also) . And then it was the dancing …everyone dancing, questions were asked and pointed out, answer sessions by doctors.

And finally, mothers were presented  with gifts. Each gift bag also contained some movies. Coco got a total of 600 movies from Coruma movies, pressing forward movies and great star productions.
The beautiful actress thanks everyone that attainted: “My thanks and sincere gratitude also goes to you all. You guys rock! Diamond Celebrities ,nigeriafilms, aproko247, entertainment express, all covered the event and it was indeed a big success.”
In a short interview with Delia Innoma, the Cameroonian bred Nigerian actress disclosed how the foundation came about, enjoy

First of all, let me briefly explain how coco Medicare foundation came about .

My mum suffered from a very serious arthritis for a while which led to us seeking medical help in India. A surgery was carried out on her knees and she’s great for over eight months now. The hospital in India and I came into partnership on how we could help reach out to, inform, educate other mothers, women, ladies on what to do, how to go about to avoid surgery if possible. Let the knife be the last option. Why not keep your environment clean and protect malaria than pay so much for treatments and hospital beds. Prevention is still better than cure and all we need is information not money.
Until, a crisis is terrible, the NGO also assist you with medical information and helps you till the complete contacts, processes, trips, information and definitely half of what the suppose the cost could have been.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES  OF THE ORGANIZATION

The aims and objectives of the organization in Nigeria and elsewhere are to:

1. To gather and disseminate useful pieces of information to the general public and the citizenship

2.To act as an intercessor between patience that are in need of medical aid and do not know where or who to ask.

3.To work with Wockhardt Hospitals in providing medical services to patience who are in need of Medicare outside of the country.

4.To use her reputation and vast networks to generate and maintain a trust fund for people who cannot sincerely afford the healthcare they need.

5.To work together with other healthcare based agencies and foundations where necessary for the benefit of the common man.

6.To work with governmental agencies to improve the health conditions in the country if and when called upon to do so.

7.To assist the less privileged via the healthcare trust fund of her foundation to a free or a partly free healthcare service (s).

Trust me… Until you start seeing a thousand Naira as some good money ,you may never be able to know how far that can go to save a life.

I don’t believe in After Marriage clap, if a man cannot perform I have no business with him. Nollywood upcoming Actress Chioma Cynthia Okonkwo tells Diamond Celebrities

Image may be NSFW.

Chioma Cynthia Okonkwo is a Nollywood beautiful upcoming actress. Chioma started her acting career in 2006 and has been in over 30 Movies.

Her first love for acting she said was developed through watching the Cartoon Network.
Cynthia believes beauty and talent goes hand in hand in Nollywood, but did not enter into Nollywood because of her beauty alone but because of her talent.
She is a graduate of Anambra state University.
In this interview with Diamond Celebrities, Cynthia took us to ‘inside of Nollywood’, talked about her sex life and her relationships with Nollywood Producers. Enjoy…
By Delia Innoma
How did you get into Nollywood?
My journey into Nollywood was as a result of childhood fantasy that turned into a burning desire. Ever since I was a child I have always been obsessed with acting. My first love was developed through watching the Cartoon Network. Just seeing the various characters going through their acts awaken the love in me. Then, I would mimic whatever they do and by so doing, I became obsessed with acting. Seeing my passion, my family then encouraged me to build the passion into reality.
Later I began to sharpen my skills as an actor by acting stage dramas in my church.
Since you had the dream as a child, why didn’t you start as a child?
See, in my house, education comes first. My family believes in education so much they would not allow you to do any thing until you have had a good education. I started pursuing the dream of acting after I have secured an admission into the university. I am now a Graduate of Anambra state university.
When did you actually start acting and how has the journey been for you?
I started acting since 2006 and since then I have done over 30 films. Though the one I am about to start will be my 18th film and I still have three other scripts waiting for me after I finish the next one. I will not say the journey has been easy, I have God and a friend to thank for my fast growth in the industry.
Like in every industry, there are challenges and one of the biggest challenges in the movie industry is sexual harassment. It is almost impossible not to encounter it at one point or another as an upcoming artiste. But I thank God I have met the right people who have steered me in the right direction. Sexual harassment is always there but it all depends on you, whether to play or not to play.
Most times, they offer you conditions before giving you a role and it’s up to you to take the role or not. I have had to walk out on a job because of such conditions. Before I came into the industry I have heard of it and I was ready because I know what I wanted. It’s not peculiar to the movie industry, sexual harassment is everywhere and as a beautiful girl you must expect people to get out of turn sometimes.
But have you ever taken a lead role because that takes a while for so many other stars?
Yes, I have taken lead roles. If I remember correctly, I have taken the lead character in about 5 of the 30 films I have done. I took the lead in: “Devils workshop”; “King’s Enemy”; “Room 027”; “Hour of Grace” and  “Alampoza; Some of them are two parts movies.
What was your first fee?
I collected ten thousand Naira in my first film, which was  “Devils workshop” and the Alampoza”. It was a ten-scene appearance for me. You know, for upcoming artistes, it is usually a thousand Naira per scene. But as you progress the fee changes. In some instances, it isn’t like because you did twenty scenes you have to collect twenty thousand naira, It varies.
What about the big roles?
It depends on what you negotiate with the marketer. There is no standard as to  what you collect, all depends on your negotiations. You cannot say because you appear 50 times you will collect 50 thousand naira it entails more than that. But as an upcoming star you don’t have to haggle too much about fees. The most important thing is to have the roles coming for you to prove yourself. Right now I am not doing it for the money, I am doing it for fame.
What has worked for you in the industry; your talent or beauty?
I will say both. Before then I used to look at myself in the mirror and tell myself “Cynthia, you are beautiful”. I am beautiful. I am well-shaped. I have straight legs. I decided to come into the industry, not just with my physical attributes but also because of my talents.
In Nollywood, you may be beautiful but if you are not talented you can’t get any where but I thank God I have everything. The talent, the beauty, the figure and everything. In Nollywood, beauty and talent goes hand in hand.
What about your embarrassing moments?
The one I can remember happened when I was still looking to have a shot at acting. Then, I reported at a location and the producer gave me a note where he instructed me to meet him at a hotel room. I felt so embarrassed. He told me the role would not be available for me if I didn’t report at the hotel. I left the set and never showed up for the job. If you want me I want you to come up to me and tell me you want me but tying it to anything else puts me off.
Were you actually named Cynthia?
My name is actually Chioma cynthia okonkwo
What’s your idea about sex. Should it be done only after marriage?
Sex is a free gift from God, meant for us, man and woman to enjoy ourselves. I don’t believe in that ‘after marriage’ crap. I believe in sex before marriage because it is very important you know partner very well, sexually and otherwise, before you two are sworn together for life.
If you don’t know the person very well (sexually) before marriage, what happens if the person doesn’t live up to your expectations? What if the person cannot perform? I don’t think there’s a woman who wants to end up with a man who cannot perform.
So, a man must be able to perform before you can consider marrying him?
Yes o. If a man cannot perform I have no business with him. You have to be a complete man to be with me.
So you prefer sex to money in marriage?
My dear, money comes first o. Money rules the world. But sex too is very important because without sex the marriage cannot be sweet. God has given sex as a gift to enjoy.
Who are your role models in the industry?
My first person is Genevive Nnaji. Then there is Mercy Johnson, Stephanie Okereke and some others.
How would you describe yourself?
Simple, the girl next door. Being alive has been worthwhile. I shouldn’t say something that will make God angry, should I? (Laughs) God brought us here for a reason. So I just live my life – the girl-next-door.
What can you say about sexual harassment in the movie industry, and has it ever happened to you?
Won’t I be lying if I say nobody has harassed me? I’m a lady. It’s totally untrue when people say they’ve never been harassed.
How were you able to scale through?
It might come in the form of “toasting”. I wasn’t “blocked” now. While some will just tell you to your face. As a woman you have to respect yourself and set boundaries regardless of what people think. Some people think that sleeping with someone will give them what they’re looking for, but it doesn’t. That’s the way I see life. You are not supposed to do anything (sleep with someone).
So what I do is, I look at the person’s face and tell him this is wrong, because I’m sure that aside from me, he will harass another person. The only easy way is to disgrace the person so that he will be shy to do that to the next person.
You mean you disgrace the person?
Of course . My dear, I’m not there to joke, neither am I there to be rude to anybody. But you know, you meet some very rude people that don’t know how to talk.  So when you meet such people, you just give it back to them. You raise your voice and embarrass them, they won’t try it again.
Have you dated anyone in the industry?
Definitely. Am I a child? I have and I’m not lying about it.
Who do you draw inspiration from?
I just pray. I don’t draw inspiration from anyone.
Do you have any regret?
Every step in every single aspect of my life has been part of a journey, so I won’t say I regret this or that. I’m just going to say I am grateful to be here.
What are some challenges you encountered in the course of your career?
Before you go into anything in life, you have to go through a process and that process brings fruitfulness. So I’m going to say being able to go through all the stress and coming out smiling is one of the greatest gift in life. To be able to do something and say “Oh my God, I can’t believe I just did that” has been my joy. So the experience so far has been worthwhile.
Thank you for talking with Diamond Celebrities.
Thanks you so much ´Delia.

Nollywood location manager dies from complications triggered by the Slimming Tea… Ugezu J Ugezu reveals

Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
image

One of the Location Managers in Asaba, Chinedu Epeagba, popularly known as Dabebe dead earlier this week. So many storied emerged about his death. Today the Nollywood Director Ugezu J Ugezu has decided to set the record right. On his Facebook, he reveals the major cause of Dabebe’s death and warned people to be careful with all the dead things that are being imported into the country.

We are writing this with his permission. Hear him:

The truth is that many people are saying many things as regards the cause of death. As a young graduate who started to make a decent living in the location department of Nollywood, many alleged that his death was ‘remotely controlled’ from Mbaise, his home town by people, possibly family members who would not want him to succeed in life. What a crap!! I don’t know why people would always talk rubbish.

Our preliminary investigation, backed with scientific presentations from the last doctor that treated him in Onitsha, shows that Dabebe died from complications triggered by the SLIMMING TEA, made in China, which he started to drink in July. …

This tea, medicine or whatever, gradually destroyed all his internal organs and by the time he became too weak and got rushed to the hospital, his body couldn’t respond to treatment; organs were ruined already. The sad news is that Dabebe, that promising young man, is dead.

Why am I saying this? You need to be careful with all the dead things that are imported into this country. There is no day that one trekking door to door marketer would not barge into my office with sacks of things that they allege would make you lose weight in a few days. We know of Dabebe because it happened under our nose and we followed it up. Many people die everyday arising from complications from slimming tea and concoctions.

One must understand that we are not blessed with wonderful leaders in Africa. Our borders are porous and most regulatory agencies are not ready to do their work.
This is why all categories of junk would be imported into the continent of Africa and they would always find their way into all the shops and streets.

Do realize that life is one and YOU MUST BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT YOU TAKE.

You will slim down when you eat less. Eat just to sustain yourself and not eat to stupor all the time. There may surely be some credible slimming tea that can do the slimming magic but you must be careful. How do you know the credible ones????

Enter any supermarket today and you will be greeted with countless brands of slimming tea. Be very careful because some of those slimming tea will simply slim you into your grave by gradually destroying all your internal organs.

This massive magnum mailbox is a replica of the ‘Dirty Harry’ Smith & Wesson firearm built by a 49-year-old New Jersey man, Roger Buchko as a challenge and to promote his cabinet making and metal fabrication.

According to NY Daily, Buchko says he was just hoping to attract some attention to his cabinet-making and metal fabrication business when he built a sidearm fit for Paul Bunyan.

The truck-sized sidearm weighs about 350 pounds and sits on a 1,200-pound steel base on his front lawn in the Lopatcong Township in rural New Jersey.

Buchko said he saw a similar project online and thought he could build it better. His neighbor donated the eight-inch PVC pipe for the barrel, and he built the rest from plywood scrap he had lying around.

A Nigerian woman proud to be a gay ( read exclusive interview)

A Nigeria woman open about her sexuality, hmmmmmmm.  Well is a UK-based bisexual, Yemisi Ilesanmi, a single mother and an atheist, who has been fighting for the rights of gays for many years. Did I just say  ’a mother’? lol.
Anyways, in TELL magazine exclusive interview with her, she spoke on issues surrounding homosexuality and its perception in Nigeria.
Here is copy of TELL magazine’s exclusive interview

Whether Nigerians accept it or not, LGBT rights are recognised human rights. Unless, you can prove that Lesbians, gays, biséxuals and transséxuals are not human beings, well, you have no reason to deny them their fundamental human rights. Unfortunately many Nigerians believe in the concept of sin. First, we must understand that sin is a religious concept. Not every Nigerian is religious. Your religion is also a personal matter, why drag other people into your personal relationship with Jesus, Mohamed or Obatala?

When I am told that homoséxuality is a sin, I just tell them their religion is not my law. The Bible or Quran is not my constitution, so why is that even coming up?

Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.

The very first thing we need to understand is that homosexuality, bisexuality, asexuality are all as natural as heterosexuality. Our sexual orientation differs; we are born with an innate ability to be emotionally or sexually attracted or not be sexually or emotionally attracted to same sex or opposite sex. Unfortunately, many African societies do not provide enabling environments to discuss sexual orientation. Sexual orientation does not harm anyone. A person who is attracted to opposite sex does not harm anyone so far it is a consensual adult relationship.

It is absurd when Christian gay bashers gleefully quote Leviticus 18:22 to justify why they want to jail and stone gays. Anyone who wants to quote from Leviticus should at least read the book to make sure they are not guilty of any of the things condemned in the book. Leviticus also says you should not shave, you should not interact with a woman in hermenstrual cycle, thou shall not eat shrimps or shell fish, Lev. 11:10,11:6-8 thou shall not touch the skin of a dead pig (therefore touching football without wearing gloves makes you unclean!) So, when Christians throw Leviticus at me, I simply throw Leviticus right back in their face.

My immediate family knows my sexual orientation, my father is late, and my mother is accepting of whom I am and has shown me love and support. To continue to be an important part of my life, you cannot be homophobic, biphobic or transphobic.

My atheism has nothing to do with my biséxuality. Atheism is simply a non-belief in God. My bisexuality is my sexual orientation, no connection. However, I must say, my atheism has helped me to stand up against religious bullies, who use the Bible and the Quran to justify their hate for gays, lesbians, transsexual and bisexuals.

Religion carries a lot of unwarranted weight in Nigeria and Africa generally. This should not be so. In fact, this is one reason the African continent is still very backward. When religion carried so much weight in Europe during middle Ages, it was wrought with wars, jihads, killings and ethnic cleansing.

Many religious Africans now use the ‘holy’ books to justify the oppression of members of their own society. Even when the original owners of the religion inform them that the book has been updated and some parts are no longer applicable, Africans still insist that it is must be applicable because it says so in the book they were given. How pathetic!

Married? Jim Iyke wants to thank God for making two into one

Nigerian musicians forget the wife and son of late Rapper Mc Loph, popping 500 thousand Naira Champagne in night clubs, Nollywood actor says…

Today, Sept. 14th  marked it two years Obiajuru Kenneth Nwaozor jr a.k.a MC LOPH died in a ghastly motor accident with his only sister Chinwe as God may have it his wife Nkeiru miraculously survived with two months old pregnancy and today she has a bouncing baby boy for late MC LOPH’ only son who died with his only sister.

Nollywood actor and musician McSmith Ochendo told Diamond Celebrities no one has done anything to help the wife and son of the late musician.

“It is a pity that his fellow artists especially our eastern artists refuse to do something in his memory and to help his wife and son even when some of them are super rich now and can afford to pop champagnes of 500k at a club every weekend, the wife is finding it difficult to survive with the only son which is what kept MC Loph’s mother alive till today.”

We hope Nigerian musicians read this and help this woman and kid if they have not done anything for her. MC Loph was a good man. I got to know him, and was one of the people who talked with him some hours before his unfortunate death.  So sad he died, but should Mc Loph be forgotten?

Johnpaul Nwadike runs mad after his encounter with a ghost in  Malaysia.

The talented actor was in Washington DC on weekend to present an Africa film critics award, and now has gone back to continue with the movie shooting , so don’t panic! Is just a movie role! He will be fine after shooting the movie. lol

The production of this movie is a proven that Nollywood is stepping up. This movie has 2 (two) different locations, Malaysia and Nigeria . Presently the cast and crew are shooting now in Malaysia . From Malaysia back to Nigeria to wrap up the movie.

We gathered that the movie will feature all the talented young bloods of Nollywood like prince Ugorji (Owelle), Micheal Godson, Zubby Micheal, Jnr Pope, Jerry Williams. Some veterans like Clems Ohameze and Chinwe Owoh are also included. From all indications, this movie will be the best among the best.

The mad scene will also be shot in Nigeria.

Man caught with 6.5kg high grade Brazilian cocaine in Lagos

This weekend, the men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 36-year old Francis Bawaba, a Nigerian based in Spain with 6.5kg high grade Brazilian cocaine.

Bawaba was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed airport in Lagos as he arrived aboard an Etihad flight. NDLEA officials found 364 wraps of cocaine said to be worth N72million concealed in the luggage of the trafficker.

According to the story, he took off from Malpensa Milan and collected the drug on transit while in Abudhabi.

Bawaba told officials that he agreed to carry the drugs because of a promise of N3.3million by his handlers. “This is my first time and I was lured with N3.3million. I used to work at a construction company in Madrid but due to the Economic meltdown, it has been difficult securing a job”. he said.
