A newborn baby survived for five days after being dumped in a storm drain in Australia.
The seven day old baby was discovered after two cyclists heard crying coming from the 9ft deep drain pipe near a motorway
The little boy was found abandoned at the bottom of the 9ft deep pipe, which was covered with a 440lb concrete slab still wrapped in a hospital blanket.
It took six men, including three police officers, to lift the slab and rescue the baby.
Police believe the boy had been pushed through a small opening to the drain and were concerned he may have suffered internal injuries from the fall…
The child is now in Westmead Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A woman was charged with the attempted murder of the child yesterday. She was refused bail and will appear in court today.
“New South Wales police will allege in court that the baby was abandoned in the drain since Tuesday,” a New South Wales Police Spokesman told the Daily Mirror.
