A furious homeowner allegedly ran over a city official in China after being told her house would have to be demolished because it was illegally built.
Zhi Liao, 29, allegedly rammed her black sudan into the man outside the house in Harbin, a city in north-eastern China’s Heilongjiang Province, after a blazing row erupted over the seizure of the property.
A city council spokesman said: “She was demanding she be given a few days to organise herself but they explained they had to seize the property that day because it had been ordered by the court.
“They explained that as she had built the property illegally in the first place she didn’t have any rights to complain.
“She then just flew off the handle, climbed into her car and drove straight into one of them, smashing the windscreen and leaving him unconscious.”
Police spokesman Tain Yu said: “The woman told police she is innocent, and that the official threw himself on her car as she was trying to drive away.”
The official was taken to hospital and the woman arrested.
