Re: A man from Pembrokeshire, west Wales has been fined for bigamy after his estranged wife saw pictures of him marrying another woman on social media. Andrew David McLeod-Baikie, from Cresselly, pleaded guilty at Haverfordwest Magistrates' Court. He claimed he had gone through online divorce proceedings, but it emerged that it was never finalised. He was ordered by Magistrates to pay £400 in fines and a further £400 in costs. Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told the court that the defendant separated from his first wife in 2010, and the pair had four children together. However, the divorce proceedings that started in 2011, were never finalised. Ms Vaughan said: "The first wife was informed by a friend that she had seen pictures of the wedding of the defendant and another female. "He informed her he had divorced her online two years previously." Mark Layton, defending, said his client had paid £600 to deal with his divorce online, had received paperwork and understood he was divorced. Mr Layton added: "He presented the paperwork to the vicar who married them. It was quite a large function, and he was not secretive about it. "He should have paid more attention to the paperwork, because clearly the decree absolute had not been granted."

Property developer Andrew McLeod-Baikie, 52, was seen happily smiling in the wedding snaps with his new wife Helen on Facebook.

First wife Susan, 51, called in police after being shocked at seeing her husband wed to another woman.

Prosecutor Sian Vaughan said: ‘The first wife was informed by a friend that she had seen pictures of the wedding of the defendant and another female.

‘He informed her he had divorced her online two years previously.’

A court heard father-of-four McLeod-Baikie told police he paid £600 for an online divorce from Susan four years ago.

But the divorce wasn’t official before he remarried to his second wife Helen, 48 – and he was arrested by police when his first wife told them: ‘He’s still officially married to me.’

Mark Layton, defending, said McLeod-Baikie had paid £600 to get a divorce online a year after parting from his first wife in 2011.
