The showdown of carnival bands in the Carnival Calabar has ended in Calabar with Master Blasta clinching the overall best of band performance in the senior category.
In the competition of the carnival bands at the just concluded Africa’s biggest street party, in Calabar, Master Blasta band clinched the most coveted best performing band in the senior category followed by Passion 4, while Seagull took the 3rd position.
In the competition of junior bands Seagull clinched the overall best with Passion 4 winning the second position followed by Bayside band.
In both the senior and junior categories of the best king and queens of the band Seagull swept a whooping best of all.
For other aspects that the bands competed for Seagull also clinched the best in costumes interpretation and the best decorated float in the senior category while best in originality, the reflection of the carnival spirit and in interpreting this year’s theme ‘aren’t not stopping us’ went to Master Blasta band.
In the junior competing bands category best interpretation of theme went to Passion 4; while Seagull hooked the best reflection of carnival spirit and originality. As for interpretation of the theme Passion 4 and Seagull landed in a tie.
The carnival, which began from the millennium park through a 12 kilometer non-stop dance trek and ended at the UJ Eseune stadium lasting from 2pm of Friday to 2am of Saturday, had five bands competing including Bayside, Passion 4, Master Blasta, Freedom and Seagull band.
