The Children and Women’s Trust, a UK based charity 1126296, is holding another fundraising concert on Sunday 3rd May at 1.00 pm in order to carry on supporting ‘The Future is Now Uganda’ an orphanage in a Northern town of Uganda, Gulu.
The Founder of the charity, Miss Doris Allimadi visited the orphanage in early January 2015, on the back of a successful concert held in London in December 2014 with Pauline Long of BEN TV, as keynote speaker and among the performers was Jean Paul Samputu, a Kora Award nominee.
Ms Allimadi described her initial unannounced visit as happy, encouraging and very emotional. She noted that the children were happy, healthy and very playful and that upon introduction, they erupted into an impromptu ‘concert’ with joyous singing and dancing.
Monies raised in December went towards the construction of 2 nursery classrooms within the compounds of the orphanage, purchase of dry foods and also to boost poultry farming.
The nursery classrooms and the main house where the children reside are yet to be completed, hence the need for further fundraising.
Founder of Beffta Awards Pauline Long has again been invited to speak at the event along. Among the special guest list is Diamond celebrities writer Princess Florence Toya who will be covering the event. Performers include Carol Jiani, a renowned international recording artist, Nyinomugisha and her band, Valentine Artist, Hyper Hype, Ang3lina, Sasha Davina and this time we have a child performer, Aly who will be dancing to afrobeats, street dancing and Acholi traditional dancing.
