A Colorado woman was beaten, stabbed and had her unborn baby cut from the womb Wednesday in a brutal attack by another woman she didn’t know, police said.
The alleged attacker, a 34-year-old woman, showed up at Longmont United Hospital with the dead fetus, claiming she had a miscarriage, Longmont Police Commander Jeffrey M. Satur said.
Officers responded to a call at 2:41 p.m. in Longmont, a city about 30 miles north of Denver, and could hear the injured woman yelling from inside a Green Place home.
“This is a tragic case for a mother right now,” Satur told the Longmont Times-Call. “She came by this house. She was attacked, and her baby was removed from her.”
The victim underwent surgery and is expected to recover, Satur said.
Detectives are working to obtain a search warrant for the suspect’s home.
